Catherine Markle has been with NHS for two and a half years, and is the Supports Coordinator for the Dave Wright Apartments. She graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelors of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Catherine is currently a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Education, with a focus in Applied Behavior Analysis. She plans to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
At the Dave Wright apartments, the Supports Coordinator provides voluntary, supportive services to all tenants. These services include, but are not limited to, facilitating tenant and social committee meetings, identifying/enhancing natural supports, and assisting residents with independent living skills, such as money management and the job application process. The Supports Coordinator also works to connect residents with the Heidelberg community.
The Supports Coordinator also works with residents to plan educational and social events for the building. Educational events are selected based on resident interest and need. Previous educational events have included a financial workshop presented by PNC Bank and CPR/First Aid provided by the Heidelberg Police Department. Social events are selected by a tenant run Social Committee and have included movie nights, holiday themed potluck dinners, and different social clubs.
